This year's edition featured the NEW BREED of boogie woogie pianists who developed an interest in this style of music at an early age, and are now some of its leading representatives throughout the world: CHRIS CONZ from Uster, Switzerland- performing boogie woogie since age sixteen, Chris has been the organizer of the International Boogie Woogie Boogie Night Uster and Blues Festival since 2011, and in 2013 The Chris Conz Trio won the Swiss Jazz Award LUCA SESTAK from Karlsruhe, Germany- in 2006 at the age of eleven, Luca shared his first videos on YouTube which brought him worldwide acclaim- by March 2014 his videos had received as many as 1.8 million hits, and he is now a respected member of the European boogie woogie community CHASE GARRETT from Iowa City, Iowa- voted "Best Local Act" by the Daily Iowan in 2011, Chase began playing piano professionally at age seventeen and within a few years was performing at blues and boogie woogie festivals across the U.S. and Europe, staging his own "Blues & Boogie Woogie Piano Stomp" at the Englert Theater in Iowa City since 2010 check LEE HAY'S special on WVXU 90.9 FM Cincinnati- interview by David Neal Lewis- listen to it HERE
